"Great time in Mai Samui"
We had a great experience in Mai Samui although we were a bit disappointed when we got there just to realize there was no beach due to the heavy monsoon rains this last year. But they were working hard, 24hs/day, to restore the sandy beach. After 2 days we could already relax at the beach beds by the beach and enjoy some beautiful sunny days. They were very understanding of the situation and compensated the guests either with discounts or meals.
That said, I have to say that the resort is sooo beautiful, well maintained in small details, the rooms are spacious and modern, the bathtub in the balcony is a plus, good service as usually in Thailand, and good food.
The hotel is located away from Chaweng, so is a quiet location. If you are looking for night life close by, this is not a hotel for you. But we were glad we chose Mai Samui after being to Chaweng. This is the side of the island to see the most beautiful sunsets!!
The resort has a huge and beautiful infinite pool with 2 bars where you can also have light meals.
I did the cooking class by myself since my husband doesn't like to cook but eat:) It was a good experience going to the local market in the morning with the chef and cooking later on. Try it if you like cooking!
We also rented a motorbike, arranged by the hotel, to tour the island. This is a good way to do it since taxis are very expensive here.
Reading the reviews here, we decided to go for a late lunch at the Nuch's Green Talay in the south of the island. It was well worth the ride to find this hidden restaurant cause we had the best thai meal ever. And watched a beautiful sunset.
I completely recommend the resort and wish I can go back any time.
